The Gran Sasso Center for Astroparticle Physics (CFA), funded by Regione Abruzzo and European Union, is a joint facility of the Gran Sasso National Laboratory (National Institute for Nuclear Physics - INFN), the Physics Department of Rome Tor Vergata University and the Physics Department of L'Aquila University.
Housed at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory and led by Prof. V. Berezinsky, CFA promotes the research in the field of Astroparticle Physics, among its main research areas are Neutrino Physics, Dark Matter Physics, High Energy Astrophysics and Gravitational Waves. Gran Sasso National Laboratory as well as the Physics Departments of L'Aquila and Roma Tor Vergata Universities share a long standing work in the fields of Astroparticle Physics. The CFA helps in continuing this work by creating a single site at which scientists from different institutions can share knowledge and work together on major projects. CFA will offer to visiting scientists the benefit of close interaction as well as the advanced technology and infrastructures of the Gran Sasso Laboratory. Meanwhile, the CFA fellowship program will host promising young researchers for stays of up to two years. They will be free to pursue their own independent research as well as taking part in the world-class flagship projects led by Gran Sasso Laboratory and the Physics Departments of L'Aquila and Roma Tor Vergata.
